The Williamite War – conflict centered around rule over the throne of England, resolved between the Catholic king James II and Protestant monarch William III. Even though it may appear disconnected from the fate of Ireland and Derry at first, it happened to be the background of one of the most important events in the history of the city – The Siege of Derry.

Situated inside the city walls, The Siege Museum allows its visitors to follow the events of the 105-days long battle, from the closure of Derry gates by apprentice boys, to the arrival of the relief fleet on the River Foyle. The exhibitions include various artifacts of the XVII century, numerous interactive presentations and in-depth stories tied to each object of interest.
