Otherwise known as Áras Colmcille, St Columba Heritage Centre is a facility dedicated to Derry’s founding father and patron (also known as Colmcille). The old building of St Columba National School has recently been renovated to properly house an exhibition dedicated to the life and work of one of the most influential VI century Irish figures.

Although the centre is not the most popular of attractions in The Walled City, premises of the so-called Wee Nuns School are certainly worth visiting. The building houses numerous engaging modern displays and artifacts connected to Colmcille, including Books of Kells, Lindisfarne, Durrow and the Cathach, all originating from the times of the first Columba’s monastery.
