Constructed in 1633 St Columb’s Cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in Derry, while simultaneously being one of the grander ones. Built in a gothic style, it stands out from today’s architecture. The church under the auspices of Saint Columba contains various artifacts from The Siege of Derry and information about people important to the city’s history such as Cecil Francis Alexander – internationally praised hymn writer, or Frederick Hervey – 4th Earl of Bristol.

Located inside the barricades, be sure to check it out while exploring The Walls, you won’t miss it. Inside, the high arches and tall seats show off the greatness of the craft as do the stained glass windows showing various memorials of important characters such as Robert Alexander Ferguson.
